Who SSI is for

SSA states that a person may qualify if they have limited income and resources and are age 65 or older, blind, or have a qualifying disability. Citizenship/residency and other rules also apply.

2026 federal amounts

The 2026 federal benefit rate is $994 per month for an eligible individual and $1,491 for an eligible couple. The general resource limits remain $2,000 and $3,000. Actual eligibility depends on countable income and many other rules.
