Special rules for older adults

USDA defines “elderly” for SNAP as age 60 or older. Households with an elderly or disabled member generally only need to meet the net income test under federal rules, and may receive special medical and shelter deductions.

FY 2026 federal standards

For the 48 contiguous states and D.C., the published net monthly income limit is $1,305 for a one-person household and $1,763 for two people for Oct. 1, 2025 through Sept. 30, 2026. State categorical eligibility policies can change how these figures apply.
