CSFP: Monthly USDA Food Packages for Eligible Adults 60+
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) provides packages of nutritious USDA Foods to eligible low-income older adults. It is different from SNAP: the benefit is food rather than money loaded onto an EBT card.
Age requirement
USDA describes the program for low-income people at least 60 years old. States establish income limits for older adults at or below 130% of the federal poverty income guidelines.
Availability is local
CSFP does not operate identically everywhere. State agencies and local organizations distribute food and manage applications. Some communities may have waiting lists or specific pickup arrangements.
Can someone receive SNAP too?
Do not assume one nutrition program automatically blocks another. Ask the local CSFP agency and SNAP office how the programs interact in your situation.
What to ask
When contacting a local distributor, ask about service area, income documentation, pickup or delivery options, recertification and whether there is a waiting list.
